# 3G Network Shutdown

## **How this affects you**

Telstra and Optus has announced that its 3G network will be phased out, with the final shutdown date set for 28 October 2024.

## What you need to do

If you have an older device that only supports 3G, you’ll need to upgrade to a 4G or 5G compatible device to continue using services like the CareMaster & Trips mobile apps.

## How you can prepare

1. Check Your Device Compatibility: Verify if your current device supports 4G or 5G by checking the device specifications.
2. Upgrade Your Device: If your device is not compatible, consider upgrading to a new one.
3. Review Your Plan: Ensure your mobile plan supports 4G or 5G to take full advantage of the new networks.

## Device Compatibility

🍏 iPhone Users

•	If you have an iPhone 6 or newer, your device is compatible.

•	To check compatibility on older iPhones: Settings > Mobile Data > Mobile Data Options > Voice & Data.

•	If you see 4G or 5G selected, your device is compatible.

\
🤖 Android Users

•	Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Mobile Network.

•	If you see 4G or 5G as an option under the Preferred network type or Network mode, your device is compatible.

## **Telstra: Easy Compatibility Check**

Telstra has developed an easy-to-use SMS tool to check if your phone needs an upgrade. If you **text ‘3’ to 3498**, Telstra will text you back telling you if you need to take action.
