# How to Use the Manage Button to Change Supports?

The Manage button (available within the Roster and Supports pages) is a great way to bulk manage your supports where the recurring functionality doesn't fulfill your needs.

Using the Manage button does not break any recurring chains, and changes made using the Manage functionality to a recurring chain can be later overwritten when making changes to another part of the chain

An example: I have a recurring transaction that runs every day for a week. The supports in this chain are unchecked.

* Using the manage button, I change supports for a participant to being assigned to another worker.
* If I go into one of the other supports assigned to another worker, and save changes made there using either the Save for All or Following options, this will update every single support in the recurring chain with the details in the support you saved from.
* This means that in this scenario, all supports in the chain will be assigned to the worker they were originally, overwriting the changes made from the Manage button.

Using the Manage button can save you a lot of time, but keep the above in mind to avoid unpleasant surprises.

## Using in Supports/Transactions

To use the **Manage** button in supports; click the option at the very right of the supports page:

1. The first pop-up that will appear is called *Transaction Selection Criteria,* in this step you select the criteria to match the **Support/Transactions** that you wish to change:
   * First select the dates that you wish to filter the transactions/supports for - This is not mandatory but is recommended as if the supports are recurring it **will** change all of them if an end date is not selected.
   * Next, if the supports you need to manage, is assigned to a particular client/participant, use the drop-down field provided to select their name.
   *  If the supports to be managed are assigned to a particular staff/volunteer, you can use this drop-down field to select the staff/volunteers name.

2. The next step allows you to enter in what needs to be changed.
   * You can either adjust start and end times, bulk status change to update / cancel or uncancel supports, change the client, add or remove workers, bulk check or uncheck supports, bulk confirm or unconfirm supports or bulk change notes.
   * If you do not want to adjust a field, either leave blank or on Do not Change.
   * Once you are happy with the changes, you can click on Next.

3. The final step summaries the supports that will be adjusted, if it looks correct, click on Finish.
