# News Items

CareMaster has the ability to push a News article to workers via the app which can then track who has viewed the article.

**Creating a News Item**

Go to the left-hand menu and press News where you can select Participant News or Worker News.

It will open an empty page where you can input the information and format it for easy viewing.

* Add a Heading
* Insert content. This can be the bulk of the information if you do not have a file to upload
* Upload a file - most all file types are accepted
* Categories - Only workers who also have the same category applied will be able to see this news item. You can select multiple categories. Selecting no Categories will make it available for all workers to view.
* Locations - Only workers who also have the same Location applied will be able to see this news item. You can select multiple Locations. Selecting no Locations will make it available for all workers to view.
* Expiry - add an expiry date for the News article to be no longer visible.

**News in the Worker App**

In the Worker App, the worker will receive a notification and it will highlight that there is a News article available.

This is visible in the More section, and the worker would see the available article.

\*Only once they have opened this article to the next page, would it be marked as *read* by the worker.

**Edit the Article or review the Read list**

**To Edit the article, go to the  News > Worker News section and press Edit on your selected article.**

**This will take you to the initial input page to make any required adjustments.**

**To see who has Read the article, go to the News > Worker News section, press the Read more button.**

**This will open the article and show you in the lower section who has read it.**

**Read Notifications**

When a Worker has read a News article, you can turn on a notification and choose who it is sent to.

Go to Settings  > Worker App Settings and select Worker Read News Article Notification to choose your recipient.
