Optimiser Console Overview:

The Optimiser Console contains two tabs: Tree View and List View. By default, the page opens in Tree View.

  • Tree View – displays all journeys in a hierarchical structure, organised by depot.

List View – presents the same journeys in a simplified list format. You can expand each Depot to view the Vehicle Runs, which are listed by registration. Alongside each Vehicle Run, you will see:

  • Start and End Times

  • Total Stops/Trips- Bookings within the Vehicle Run

Expanding and Viewing a Vehicle Run

Select the + icon on the left-hand side of a Vehicle Run to expand and view its details. All associated bookings will be displayed in the sequence of pick-up and drop-off, reflecting the intended order of action.

  • Departure from Depot – shown with a take-off airplane icon.
  • Pick-up – shown in Green.
  • Drop-off – shown in Red.
  • Driver Break – shown with a cup icon.

Return to Depot – shown with a landing airplane icon. You can expand each booking to view additional details, including:

  • Capacity and Priority and Requested time of the booking

Requested Pick-up and Drop-off Times, depending on how the booking was created Below the allocated bookings in the Solutions page, you will see the Unscheduled Trips heading. Expanding this section displays all unallocated trips, which can be identified by the sad face icon 😞 next to the client's name. Selecting the + icon beside the sad face icon- client name will expand the booking to show the client’s space requirements and the reason the booking could not be allocated. At the top of the Solutions page, you will find additional tools to help navigate results:

  • Expand All / Collapse All – quickly open or close all depots, runs, and bookings.

  • Search Functionality – search across vehicles, bookings, crew, addresses, names, and more. The search:

  • Highlights matching keywords

  • Displays the number of matching records

Includes a “Collapse Unrelated Routes” option, which filters the view to show only results related to the keyword

List View

List View provides a more detailed way to review your journeys, with both List and Map options available. Displaying the Vehicle Runs on the left-hand side.

  • List Option – displays vehicles in a panel on the left-hand side, with their associated bookings shown alongside.

Map Option – allows you to view the same journeys plotted geographically for easier visualisation of routes. The List View provides a detailed breakdown of each Vehicle Run, with options to personalise and review run data in sequence.

  • Customise Data Selections – Checkboxes across the top of the page allow you to choose which details are displayed. Your selections are saved automatically, so your personalised view will load the next time you open the Optimiser Console.

Available Columns

  • Addresses – pick-up and drop-off locations.
  • Requested Time – the client’s requested pick-up or drop-off time, including flexibility (if set).
  • Arrive – the scheduled time to arrive at the location.
  • Begin – the actual time the booking is shown as starting in the UI.
  • Depart – the time of departure, which includes loading time (calculated as pick-up start time + load time = departure).
  • Wait (Driver) – the driver’s wait time between arrival and begin.
  • Wait (Client) – the client’s wait time. This should normally be 0. A non-zero value indicates a delay (e.g. showing the time of arrival if late).
  • Ride Time – the duration the client spends in the vehicle (only shown for drop-off lines).
  • Message – displays alerts if there are discrepancies. For example, if a booking is force allocated, a red message will appear in this column.

Bookings are displayed in order they have been allocated, starting with Departure from Depot.

  • Green = Pick-up

  • Red = Drop-off

The Map View allows you to visualise journeys directly on a map for clearer route planning.

  • You can choose to display the entire journey or only a selected portion of the route.
  • Use the From/To fields to define the section you want to view (e.g., from the 3rd booking to the 6th booking).

Click Submit to update the map and highlight the selected bookings for visual assistance. Route in its entirety- Defaults to all Bookings selected Ability to select Bookings to display only those on the map.

PLEASE NOTE: The Optimiser Console is informational only. No actions taken within the console affect production. It is designed as a reference tool to assist with allocation decisions.

To apply any changes, return to the TRIPS Web UI where you can:

  • Make manual adjustments
  • Save changes
  • Or re-run the Allocator as required

⚠️ Manual allocation alone will not enable the View Optimiser Console button and if anything is changed manually before saving the results, the View Optimiser Console will disappear.
